Hyderabad International Film Festival was held for the first time in 2007. This inaugural festival, which drew 120 films from 18 nations, was the first of its kind. There were 50 submissions in the short and documentary category, with seven awards to be given out. The screenings drew more than 2500 people.
Hyderabad International Film Festival 2008 is in its second year.150 films from 35 countries were screened. The competition division for short and documentary films was the festival’s centerpiece. There have been 179 documentaries and 69 short films submitted. The jury, which included Chairman Dr. Dragon Milinvoc Fimon of Belgium, Mr. Sharif Islam of Bangladesh, and Mr. Premendra Mazumdar of India as members, chose the winners for the Nine Awards.
